Letters, 1799-1800, to William Smith Shaw.

Letters written from Georgetown to William Smith Shaw, then serving as secretary to his uncle, President John Adams, chiding Shaw for not writing and commenting on Thomas Paine, life in the "Federal City" and problems with his health. Johnson's sister, Louisa Catherine Johnson had married John Quincy Adams in 1797.
